The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Steven Rotheram, has chosen the Alder Hey IMAGINE Appeal as one of his four charities to be supported by the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal during his year in office. Over the next 12 months there will be many fundraising events held in aid of the Appeal. We are very lucky to have people who give their spare time and energy to running benefit events for us. These have varied massively over the years. The people who run these events come from various backgrounds. Many have family in the hospital, others have been patients themselves and other people see what a worthwhile cause it is and want to contribute. The current events that we have coming in the pipeline include: Beatles Day is 24 hours when people can celebrate the legacy of the Beatles and their music by attending events and wearing a Beatles mop-top, all in the name of charity! The whole city will have a carnival like atmosphere with bands and street entertainers performing throughout the day. Imagine Appeal has once again been chosen to be one of the charities who benefit from this fantastic event. Liverpool Echo will print the best of your stories! Radio Stations will play Beatles songs and hold phone-ins. Shop staff all over the City will wear wigs, decorate their shop-fronts with Beatles memorabilia and play their songs all day. Pubs will hold Beatles Day Quizzes! School children will be visited by the 'Beatles Bus' with a live band and learn about the band's heritage. There will be Fun Run around the Arena with prizes for the best dressed!. TV presenters will read the news wearing their wigs! Everyone can take part! The climax of the day will once again be the Beatles Day Concert, as a host of stars perform Beatles songs. For tickets more information go to Beatles Day Website.
