CGGS 375 LE JoG Relay 2011

In 2011, Calday Grange Grammar School celebrates its 375th anniversary. The centrepiece of the anniversary celebrations will be the first ever completion by a school of a relay from Land's End to John O'Groats. For this event the school is partnering with Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

This enormous but exciting undertaking will involve pairs of runners covering over 500 stages, of approximately 2 miles each, to complete the route of more than 1000 miles. In addition, all pupils are responding with enthusiasm to the challenge, by attempting to raise at least £375 each. This venture reflects the school's relish for a challenge and its concern for the community.

Through the sponsorship of individuals, the support of parents, staff and students (both current and past in all categories), as well as outside companies and organisations, the event will raise money for IMAGINE, the charity for Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The objective is to raise £3.75 million for childhood cancer research at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where one of the school's runners is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment for leukaemia.
