CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS

Littlewoods Shop Direct Group has been a proud partner of Alder Hey Children's Hospital since 2003, when it donated a total of £2.25 million to help fund the development of the Littlewoods Children's Neurosciences Foundation.

Officially opened in December 2006, the Neurosciences Unit is already helping to treat thousands of ill children from the North West and beyond, to help improve quality of life and for doctors to better understand brain conditions.

Furthermore, Littlewoods Shop Direct Group actively encourages its employees to help raise extra funds for the hospital by organising special events and regular fundraising initiatives.

Alder Hey's Imagine Appeal was the nominated charity for the John Smith's Grand National for the eighth year running in 2011. In addition to the jockeys coming in every year before the Grand National and visit the children in the Oncology department.
THE BARCLAY FOUNDATION

In 2007 the Imagine Appeal received its largest ever donation of £3 million pounds from The Barclay Foundation. This incredibly generous donation will fund an intra-operative MRI scanner. Once installed, this scanner will make Alder Hey the first children's hospital in the UK, and amongst only a handful in the world, who will be able to offer this ground-breaking facility. The scanner allows surgeons to carry out scans in the operating theatre during surgery to get an immediate and accurate update on the child's progress and will help Alder Hey remain at the international forefront of research and care. The scanner was recently opened by HRH Prince William of Wales. You can read all about his visit here
